Silent Key Bob Leek is a true Ontario hero Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty released the following statement regarding the death of Toronto Firefighter, Bob Leek: “I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Toronto firefighter Bob Leek, who passed away in the line of duty earlier today on the scene of an explosion and fire in north Toronto. On behalf of all Ontarians, I want to express my sincere condolences to all those who knew Bob. Tonight, our thoughts and prayers are with his family. Bob Leek is a true Ontario hero. When others were being evacuated from a dangerous situation, he rushed towards it so that lives could be saved. Today’s tragedy is another reminder that every day, and in every community of this province, firefighters and emergency workers show tremendous courage and commitment in the service of the public. We mourn the loss of Bob Leek, and are grateful for the work of all of our emergency workers who keep us safe.” |

The firefighter was transported to hospital from the scene near Keele and Wilson after he was reportedly discovered by a colleague in the early morning hours. He's been identified as 55-year-old Bob Leek, a district chief of emergency planning...More..

The Ontario ARES regrets to announce that Bob Leek VE3TFD has become a silent key during service for his community. Bob was a District Chief of Emergency Planning and also a dedicated 25 year veteran of Toronto Fire Services. In addition Bob was also the appointed Emergency Coordinator for the Ontario ARES in the Durham Region of the GTA.
The Ontario ARES extends our deepest sympathy and prayers to the family and friends upon the great loss to the public service community that Bob served with loyalty.
